About Språkrådet - The Language Council of Norway
Språkrådet is Norway's consultative body on language issues and works to strengthen the Norwegian language and language diversity in Norway. It follows up Norway's language policy on assignment for the Ministry of Culture.
Språkrådet's activities include:
- promotes clear language in the public administration, business and industry
- gives advice, develops terminology and disseminate information about language, language use and language work
- administers the correct spelling of Norwegian and monitor how the language evolves
- monitors that the use of the language variants Bokmål and Nynorsk is in accordance with the Language Usage Act
