To all presenters at PLAIN 2019, with greetings from the PLAIN conference team: This is an informational video with tips and practical information about the conference and your presentation. We look forward to welcoming you to Oslo in September!

What is the deadline for sending my final presentation or poster?

The absolute deadline for sending us your presentation is 15 September. After this, it will not be possible to change your presentation. There are more than 100 presenters and we need the time before the conference to get everything in order. We appreciate your understanding. We will send you more information in August about how to submit your presentation.

How do I submit my presentation/poster?

The deadline for uploading your presentation/poster is 15 September at 23:59 Central European Time. The deadline is final, and unfortunately it will not be possible to edit your presentation after this point.

Time and place

Please see the programme we have sent ypu by email for the time and time frame of your presentation. If you wish to open for questions or comments from the audience, these must included in your assigned time frame.

We ask you to show up in the room where you will be speaking 20 minutes before your session starts. For example, if you are to speak as number three in a session that starts on Thursday 15.40, please make yourself known 20 minutes before the session starts, meaning at the beginning of the break at 15.20

All presentations will be held at the Radisson Scandinavia Blu Hotel, except the pre-conference and the concurrent session “Plain language for justice and democracy”, which will be held at The University of Oslo.

Technical equipment

For the plenary sessions at Radisson Scandinavia Blu Hotel there will be a screen for your presentation, a monitor for speaker notes, a count-down clock for your remaining time and a clicker for your presentation. The presentation will be running from the technical position in the back of the room, handled by our technical crew. You will have a head microphone.

For the concurrent sessions you will have a computer on stage that runs your presentation on a screen behind you. There will be a clocker available for you. The microphone will be attached to the speaker table on stage. There will be an on-call technician available if issues arise. The room will have a classroom-style set-up.

For the poster sessions your poster will be provided and hung on the wall. Please bring any other equipment you may need.  

Should I use a specific template for my presentation slides?

There is no set template for the conference. Please feel free to use your own.

Can I change the time/date/session?

Sorry, no. The programme is a complex puzzle, and as much as we would like to, we cannot accommodate you in this matter.

Can I have more time?

Details about my name, work place and/or presentation are wrongfully presented in the programme. How can I correct them?

What is a poster presentation / poster session?

A poster presentation is the presentation of research in the form of a paper poster that conference participants may view. A poster session is an event at which the posters are presented. ​​​​​

Where will my presentation be​​​​? 

Most presentations at the conference will be at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, which is the main conference venue. The pre-conference talks on Wednesday 25 September and one of the concurrent sessions at the conference will be held at the University of Oslo, which is a five minute walk from the main conference venue. Please review the informational email about the specifics regarding your presentation.

Will there be changes in the programme?

Changes may still be made, as the programme is a work in progress.
